The Sun City Center Shrine Club is paying tribute to Richard “Red” Skelton, an American actor best known for his radio and television shows between 1937 and 1971, especially as host of the television program The Red Skelton Show. The show features Mr. Brian Hoffman as Red Skelton, the only authorized impersonator by the Red Skelton Estate!

Red became interested in Masonry as a small boy selling newspapers in Vincennes when a man bought a paper from him with a five-dollar bill and told him to keep the change. Red asked why he was so generous and learned it was because he was a Mason. Red vowed to become a Mason as a result. After becoming a Mason at Vincennes Lodge #1 in September 1939, he also joined the Scottish Rite, York Rite and became a Shriner and was a significant supporter for them all!
